The staff of Diplomatic, Consular or International Organisation Representations that possess a driving licence and are not resident in Italy may drive vehicles for which the driving licence is valid, on Italian territory, providing they possess a driving licence or International Permit issued by the foreign State of origin.
If the driving licence or international permit does not conform to the provisions of International Conventions (1968 Vienna Convention, 1980 Directive of Council of European Communities), an official translation in Italian of the driving licence is required.
If the staff of Diplomatic, Consular or International Organisation Representations acquire residence or domicile in Italy, they must request conversion of the licence from the competent driver and vehicle licensing authority (Motorizzazione Civile).
