Vatican Radio was founded in 1931 by Guglielmo Marconi and inaugurated by Pius XI. It broadcasts in 45 languages (38 languages online) and is an institution connected to the Holy See. Although it is a radio broadcaster of the Holy See with its registered office in the Vatican City State, since 1986 it has been independent from the Vatican.

Its main mission is to spread the Christian message and teachings of the Supreme Pontiff all over the world and provide information on the workings and activities of the Catholic Church.
