On June 12th you celebrate your Independence Day. What do you commemorate? What happened exactly levitra brez recepta?

The Philippines celebrates its Independence Day every June 12 to commemorate the declaration by the Philippines of its independence from Spain.

On 12 June 1898, General Emilio Aguinaldo, the leader of the revolution at that time, declared the Philippines’ independence from the almost 400-year colonization of the Philippines by Spain. From his home in Kawit, Cavite, the Philippine flag was flown, the national anthem was played, and the Acta de la proclamación de independencia del pueblo Filipino was read on that day.

Do you have any special traditions you observe while celebrating your National Day?

In celebration of our national day, several meaningful activities are conducted simultaneously nationwide such as the flag-raising and wreath-laying rites at the Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite and other historical landmarks; Independence Day parade; and cultural events and performances. We also observe annual national flag days where the Philippine flag is prominently displayed in all government agencies from 28 May to 12 June.

Here in Rome, the Philippine Embassy conducted a flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of the Philippine hero Dr. Jose Rizal in Piazzale Manila on 03 June 2018. It celebrated with the Filipino community in Italy on 10 June and hosted a diplomatic reception on 12 June.

How big is the community of Filipinos in Italy? How many people live here and where are they mostly located in the country?

Based on the data of the Italian Ministry of Interior, there are an estimated 170,000 Filipinos living and working in Italy, of which around 45,154 are in Rome. The Filipinos are concentrated in Lombardia, Lazio, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, and Veneto regions.

Would you like to mention any new projects you are working on?

The Philippine Embassy undertakes various cultural activities through-out the year. The Embassy invites the public to visit the Philippine Pavilion at the 16th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition, The City who had Two Navels, at the Artiglierie of the Arsenale in Venice, Italy. This is the country’s second participation at the Architecture Biennale since 2016. The exhibition will run until 25 November 2018.

Thank you to the Embassy for the sharing this contribution, and best wishes to H.E. Mr. Nolasco and all our Filipino friends!
