Rome, 22/05/2018
The 2018 edition of the Biennale Architettura, FREESPACE, is opening this Saturday, May 26th and will close on November 25th.
All participant countries will need to present their idea of what’s free in the nature and much more. To use the words of this year’s curators, Yvonne Farrell and Shalley McNamara, “FREESPACE encourages reviewing ways of thinking, new ways of seeing the world, of inventing solutions where architecture provides for the well-being and dignity of each citizen of this fragile planet… FREESPACE encompasses freedom to imagine the free space of time and memory, binding past, present and future together, building on inherited cultural layers, weaving the archaic with the contemporary.”
The jury will award three prizes: the Golden Lion for Best National Participation, the Golden Lion for the Best Participant, and the Silver Lion for a promising young participant.
The 2018 edition will see 63 national participations (full list here) and among them six new participants: Antigua and Barbuda, Guatemala, Holy See, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.
Together with the huge amount of 615k visitors, many representatives of the diplomatic world took part to the last Biennale Architettura – the 2016 Reporting From the Front – among which: 10 Heads of State and Prime Ministers (Italy, Albania – with Edi Rama, also an artist invited to the Exhibition – Antigua and Barbuda, and New Zealand – with their Governors-General, viceregal representatives of Queen Elizabeth II – Belgium, Ireland, Kosovo, New Zealand, Russia, San Marino and Ukraine, and the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies); 55 Ministers and Deputy Ministers, and 37 Ambassadors and Deputy Ambassadors.
Taking into account the rising success of the Biennale’s latest editions, Easy Diplomacy has designed a series of services aimed at welcoming official delegations visiting Venice. Operating with attention to detail and lot of passion, Easy Diplomacy has been working over the years on the logistics, administrative, and bureaucratic aspects of Official and State Visits and it is now proud to offer a tailored service for the Biennale delegations which include both the visits’ organisation and special agreements with prestigious hotels in the Venice laguna for impeccable lunches and dinners.
Happy Biennale to all our friends all over the world, and special greetings to the new participant countries!
